Local students and teacher win award in international art contest focused on climate change.

Real-world learning motivates students to excel! Used as a compliment to the 6th-grade weather/climate change unit, the 2018 Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Content "Our Oceans in a Changing Climate" opened students’ eyes to the impact humans are making to our oceans, as well as when, where, and how they can make a difference.

Almost 3,000 teenagers from 58 countries and 48 U.S. states responded to Bow Seat's annual call for art. And, out of nearly 1,000 entries in the poetry category, Ella Williams and Thomas Carter have been recognized for their exemplary work! They were inspired to advocate for the change our world needs, and chose to use their words to speak up for a healthier ocean!

In addition, Ms. Renick was selected to win one of Bow Seat's Sponsor Recognition Awards! She was nominated by her students as someone who helps to change their lives and the world for the better.
